Like our fingernails, a horse’s hooves grow continuously. They need to be trimmed every six to eight weeks to keep them in proper shape. However, unlike our fingernails, not just anyone is qualified to properly trim a horse’s hooves.

A farrier, is a specialist in equine hoof care. Their work includes the trimming and balancing of a horse's hoof, dealing with injured and/or diseased hooves, and an array of many other things.

Ordinarily, the cost of a trim from a farrier ranges anywhere from $30.00-$60.00 per horse. With numerous horses, the maintenance cost of farrier services can seem daunting.
